Somerville IFED 2017

Somerville IFED (International Family Equality Day)

On May 7th, 2017, LGBTQ families and their supporters in Somerville, Massachusetts and around the world will be participating in the 6th annual International Family Equality Day celebration. IFED was launched in 2012 as a sign of solidarity and pride to support equality for all families. In 2016, IFED was commemorated in 74 towns and 36 countries worldwide. 2017 will be the third time the event is held in Somerville. The motto for IFED 2017 is ‘LOVE MAKES A FAMILY’. IFED celebrates all the different kinds of families with the goal of increasing the international visibility of LGBTQ families. Event will be held annually in Davis Square, Somerville, MA. For information on International Family Equality Day please visit their website and read their annual report.
By celebrating International Family Equality Day, The Rainbow Initiative, Family Equality Council and our partners across the globe raise awareness among politicians and the general public about the need for equal treatment and recognition for all families, regardless of the sexual orientation or gender identity of their family’s members.
Local organizations, Family Equality Council and The Rainbow Initiative have teamed up to make this celebration great and we are reaching out to local businesses to see if they will help sponsor this event. IFED is a free event that receives its operating budget from financial sponsors, in-kind donations that are raffled off, and discounts from local businesses and performers.

We have six different levels of sponsorship, which follow the colors in the LGBTQ Pride Flag. Below is a guide to the sponsorship levels available to businesses. If you would like to be involved with Somerville IFED but cannot be a sponsor at this time, an in-kind donation that can be raffled off would also help us meet our fundraising goal.

If you are interested in being apart of this event as a volunteer, financial sponsor, to donate a in-kind donation, hold a table at IFED, or to be a performer at the event please email Aimee Mills-Viscovich at
